They explained that the observations highlighted by the thesis's supporters are explained by the known physics of contrails and by ordinary atmospheric dynamics.

As early as 2000, several U.S. federal agencies — the EPA, the FAA, NASA and NOAA — published a joint factsheet on contrails, precisely in order to address public concerns and explain the nature of these trails.
